Two of our students — Jack and Laura — earned the status of Principals for the Day after publishing some work in the student newspaper. The names of all writers were put into a hat by the Student Council and the names of Laura (a sixth grader) and Jack (a first grader) were pulled out.

They did an excellent job running the Norris School today (while Mr. Collins traded places and went into Laura and Jack’s classrooms to take their place).

Among their duties today were:

• Reading two poems to the entire school during some quick ‘Poetry Breaks.’
• Choosing a special dessert treat for all school lunch eaters today (yummy chocolate chip cookies and ice cream)
• Speaking to Superintendent Ripa about the Norris School.
• Choosing some new activities for the end of the year Field Day.
• Eating lunch with three friends in Mr. Collins’ office.
• Overseeing some recess duties (with walkie-talkies).
• Dismissing the entire school for February vacation.

The event was a nice way to launch into winter break!
